The Secret of Roan Inish es una película independiente irlandesa-norteameriana de 1994 escrita
y dirigida por John Sayles. Está basada en la novela "Secret of the Ron Mor Skerry" de Rosalie K. Fry.

Centrada en el folklore irlandés y de las Islas Orcadas sobre unas focas pueden despojarse de su piel
y convertirse en humanos.

La historia, ambientada en la costa oeste de Irlanda, es sobre Fiona, una jovencita que es enviada a vivir con
sus abuelos y su primo Eamon cerca de la isla Roan Inish, donde se rumora que residen las focas convertidas.

Una leyenda familiar dice que el hermano menor de Fiona fue llevado en su infancia y criado por una foca convertida.
Parte de la película se desarrolla en Donegal.
