This ought to get the German flag as it's probably a shot-by-shot English language remake of Wilhelm Thiele's "Privatsekretärin" - Uplaoder: soames for KG. No subs yet. IMDB

Plot Synopsis: "Released in the U.S. as The Office Girl, Sunshine Susie is the English-language version of the German comedy hit Die Privatsekretärin. The charming Renate Müller repeats her role from the German version as Susie, the perky new stenographer for a stuffy Viennese banking firm. Here she falls in love with Arvay (Owen Nares), whom she assumes is a lowly clerk. In fact, Arvay is the bank's managing director, but he doesn't let on, fearful that Susie has a prejudice against wealthy men. Reviewers in 1931 were most impressed by the breezy comic performance of Jack Hulbert, who was hailed as a 'new find,' even though he'd been a stage favorite since 1916! Enlivening the proceedings are four songs, carried over from Die Privatsekretärin but 'English-ized' by Paul Abraham and Desmond Carter. Sunshine Susie was distributed in the U.S. by RKO Radio Pictures."--Hal Erickson, AllMovie

Quote: Gayety and Melody New York Times, June 27, 1932

The British edition of that immensely successful German picture "Die Privatsekretärin" is the present attraction at the Cameo. Renate Mueller, the charming Berlin actress, plays her rôle of the original version. Her English may not always be as distinct as one might wish, but her accent is most pleasing and she sings agreeably. The production, now called "Office Girl," is not up to the mark set by the Teutonic work, for the studio acoustics appear to be faulty and in several sequences the director, Victor Saville, has failed to have his scenes as adequately lighted.

Jack Hulbert and Owen Nares, well-known London players, act the leading male rôles. Both give clever performances, the result being that this Gainsborough feature makes for quite a good hour or so of entertainment.

The music, the same score as in the parent film, is tuneful and is recorded satisfactorily. Two of the numbers are: "Today I Feel So Happy" and "Just Because I Lost My Heart to You." There are several excellent scenes in a beer garden where a male chorus takes part in the melody.

This film also inherits its fun and romance from the German production. "Office Girl" is the title for this country, the picture having been shown in Britain as "Sunshine Susie."

Fräulein Mueller's part is that of Susie, who goes to Vienna to seek employment. An office manager of a bank gives her a stenographer's position, hoping that she will dine with him that night. But Susie does not appear at the rendezvous, and this makes the fat philanderer furious. Eventually, while working overtime, Susie meets Herr Arvay, whom she believes to be one of the clerks, but who is really the managing director of the bank. This gives the producer and the players many opportunities for comedy, and in the end there is a happy pair of lovers--Susie and the managing director.

The composition of the scenes is very much like that of the German work, but the development of some of the episodes is not accomplished with the same artistry as the original.
