Muerte en el Nilo, es probablemente la novela de detectives más famosa de Agaha Christie.
Protagonizada por el belga Hércules Poirot, esta novela fue también la favorita de Christie.
Ambientada en Egipto, la acción se hace más vívida basada en la descripción proveniente de la
observación que la autora hizo a ese pais durante su viaje, el cual estuvo siempre muy cerca
de su corazón. La historia se desarrolla alrededor del personaje de Linnet Doyle, hermosa y
saludable dama, quien realiza su viaje de luna de miel a lo largo del Nilo con su nuevo marido y
otros viajeros en vacaciones. Para su disgusto, uno de estos es Jacqueline, que estuvo había sido la
prometida de su reciente marido. Christie reúne un número de personajes que parecen haber aparecido
en la misma travesía por coincidencia, pero por supuesto, la coincidencia no existe. Christie liga
hábilmente las vidas de los pasajeros, acumulando el suspenso hasta que ocurre el asesinato.
